Neuromuscular relaxation

Neuromuscular relaxation" is the process of a patient performing a series of exercises that reduce nervous activity and contractile tension of skeletal muscles.

It includes various muscle contractions performed by the patient according to the original instructions. Each specific type of emotional arousal corresponds to the tension of a certain muscle group.

Muscle relaxation (relaxation) is used to combat the state of anxiety and emotional tension, as well as to prevent their occurrence. The beginning of neuromuscular relaxation is associated with the name of the American psychophysiologist E. Jacobson.

It is used in the "Antistress" program and relaxation trainings.

Indications for use

Therapy is prescribed for diseases such as encephalopathy with asthenic, vegetative-vascular, hypothalamic syndromes, neuroses, tension headaches, vegetative dystonia syndrome, migraine and depression.

Contraindications

Neuromuscular relaxation is not desirable for diseases such as

Parkinson's disease; multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, as well as oncopathology of the nervous system, the consequences of injuries and diseases of the spinal cord and brain, mental disorders and drug addiction.
